We’re Columbus Foodscapes
And we’re on a mission.
We’re on a mission to make growing your own organic food joyful and easy through education, empowerment, and the transformation of ordinary spaces into beautiful, abundant Foodscapes.
Whether you’re a novice gardener who’s never grown a tomato or a skilled grower, we’re here with the tools, expertise, and know-how to take your gardening to the next level.
We’re here to make edible gardening joyful & easy.
For us that means:
Empowering to Grow.
Our work in our Columbus communities goes beyond just building & maintaining organic, edible gardens. We empower you to grow your own food during our Garden Coaching sessions by giving you the tools, resources, and confidence to grow.
Honoring the Earth.
We don’t use anything in our organic garden maintenance that a two-year-old couldn’t accidentally swallow safely. By utilizing all-organic pest management and growing practices, we’re honoring the earth and promising you a healthy garden for years to come.
Supporting C-Bus.
We know we’re only as strong as our communities. That’s why we partner closely with local businesses in central Ohio and over 90% of our products we use to create our gardens come directly from local businesses.
What We Can Do For You
Make.
We bring our expertise and enthusiasm to each and every consultation to ensure you a customize-crafted, beautiful edible garden space.
Maintain.
Sit back and let us do all the dirty work. We can maintain your edible garden as often or infrequently as you need with our Customized Maintenance services.
Mentor.
Growing food isn’t easy, we’re here to help you through the process. Our Garden Coaching sessions help you learn how to grow your own bountiful garden.
Meet Katie Carey
Hey! I’m Katie.
I’m a certified Master Gardener, Master Urban Farmer, garden educator, and a mama to the sweetest doggy ever. I have grown food on half-a-dozen different farms and large gardening projects, including rural farms, edible schoolyard projects, urban gardens in food deserts, and organic production farms.
I started Columbus Foodscapes after seeing how many of my community members desperately wanted to garden, but came back from their local garden center with their heads spinning. My life’s work is to help folks grow their own fresh, delicious fruits and vegetables close to home, in any space, and at any level of experience.
I’ve done it all — grown food in recycled pantyhose, 5-gallon buckets, cleaned-out kitty litter containers, toilet paper tubes, and in raised beds made from bricks that I scavenged from abandoned worksites — and I’m here to make sure you don’t have to do all that just to grow delicious food! These days I garden at the women’s urban farm co-op I founded, where I maintain raised beds, hügel mounds, garden rows, and more.
I’m so excited to help you create your own organic Foodscape close-to-home and I can’t wait to grow with you!
